Street Scene

by Henry Greenfield

Street Scene

A peacock moseys along my street.
He stops to unfurl his fan of eyes,
startling lapis, emeralds, and corals
which shimmer in a worshiping sun.

He rattles like a baby's toy and peers
at me as if to say, I wear my eclectic
colored coat which shelters dreams
of souls 'round time to surface now

your mind's at peace. If my feathered
mystery opens portals where you wish
to see beyond yourself then follow me.
And with one peck of scattered seed

this vision turns, oh splendid grace,
moseying eternity to another place.
