A Souls Lament

by Kim Conrad

This soul is trapped upon a sinking ship
The waves are high, the wind is howling fierce
Thrown back and forth I'm fearful it will tip
So cries a silent voice through night time pierced

This vessel made of flesh and bones is lost
Its novice heart too soon sailed out to sea
Pure intentions fade unaware the cost
A spirit drowning 'neath a cold, wet fee

But miles of water never shall hide you
Whose love abounds beyond the oceans wide
Take me into your open arms anew
That I may bathe in radiance and light

For no depression will keep me under
While I bask in your presence forever
