Do You Incorporate Reviews Into Your Writing?

I agree it depends on the person who wrote the review, and the review itself, but how much (probably percentage-wise) of reviews are you willing to admit you actually incorporate into your writing?

Zero because I consider those who do (and they know who they are) to be guilty of a personal attack much worse than if they had simply been openly ugly in the reply stream.

Hello.. When I receive a review that points out SPAG or something wrong with the form, I look at it and if I need to edit, I do so. I always view it as helpful... I write only poetry, so I do not know how I would view it in prose.

RE: Do You Incorporate Reviews Into Your Writing?
If I get a review that suggests changes, I 'consider the source.' A teacher telling me I have SPAG? I always check the reviewer's profile to determine his or her area of expertise, so a suggestion from a teacher should be listened to.

Is it someone telling me I've got something in the action wrong? For instance, having somebody walking around with a bullet wound in the shoulder. If that reviewer is a cop, ex-cop, ex-soldier or soldier, then definitely I'll make the correction.

Actually, I made such an error and it kept bothering me. It seemed reasonable because the character was strong and young and the wound relatively minor, but... So I asked a reviewer who was both an ex-cop and an ex-soldier. Yep, my gut was right. It depended on the weapon involved. With many, velocity alone would knock the character down.

It pays to check out a critique. Sometimes you can learn a lot.

I consider each suggestion and apply those that I believe will make my piece better. I ignore the rest.
