Jannypan (Jan) : You are allowed to fan up to 5 members per day. I would fan others to start building your fan base. Then you fans will receive a notice of your new word--unless it is for a blind contest. - April 24, 2019 at 11:51PM

I've completed my fifth NaNoWriMo challenge today.
I'm rewriting my three novels - True Colors - which
are in the Western Romance genre. My story is based
in Colorado with the Flying Eagle Ranch. I'll post some of my chapters soon. Going to walk my dogs now. I'll fly back soon.

Not sure whether it's appropriate to share this here (if so, apologies) but, I'm excited that a few of my poems and a short story have been accepted for publication in various magazines. FanStory's diligent reviewers have given me the confidence to start and keep writing. I appreciate that so much, thank you!!! The writing prompts are a great way to try new forms. I've just created an Instagram page for some of my shorter works, which my reviewers may recognize.

Hello All - yes it is me again, I don't mean to irritate or annoy anyone but it was getting to be way too long a post, and it was going to drop off anyway. I do have Country's notice on my profile still as well. I wanted to rework my suggestion and profile post:

Tom and Fan Story community, I did not mean to start arguments and back and forth I am trying to help - not create more confusion.

I merely wanted to get a specific suggestion across from Jesse James Doty for a Welcome Wagon for new members to add to the help that new members need -

One specific location that thanks to Gloria, she had a fantastic idea for a category like where you have Read, Write, Contests, Buddies, My Post; have "If You're New".
I have suggested this to Tom,

Maybe we could click on the highlight, and maybe it could direct you to send Dean the new "Mayor" of Fan Story a message for any type of help? He has self - volunteered to take point on this!

So Dean volunteered himself and...

I can't think of a better person to help others. He knows almost every trick there is in Fan Story to help someone new. He reads and reviews a lot of new people as soon as they join. They will immediately see who he is based on rankings, contests and such.

Gloria, I know you and I will continue to help as will Jan and Ms. Devi and others - let's hope that Tom will go with your suggestion!

I've edited this post for reasons at this point - waiting for Tom's reply... I think either it can be done or it can't. We can go from there. As far as welcoming committee and letters, if they are active they haven't helped a soul in the last few years. The only person that made a difference was Mike Cahill. He was taking on a huge amount of time getting acquainted with a large new member base. Hopefully, if Dean takes this on, he can provide just as much support as Mike did. :)

Cheers, Fonda

Gloria ....: Dean is a fine choice. Michael Cahill said Dean was a big help to him when he first joined. For sure I'll be around to help when needed, if Tom agrees to the forum thread. Here's hoping. :) - April 23, 2019 at 11:05PM

nor84: Once again, there is a welcoming committee that sends letters to new members. The list is supplied by Tom. If you want more information, PM Tom and ask him. The committee is of recent origin - probably no more than 5 years. People who have been here longer than that did NOT receive a welcome letter, as I have explained. - April 23, 2019 at 11:56PM

FanStory: We do have a welcoming committee. And they offer a terrific service. I think they do cover much of what is suggested here. What I read into this is perhaps there is a way to highlight new members (or easily locate them) for the general community. Thanks for the suggestion. Tom - April 24, 2019 at 8:09AM

Sarkems: I think it's great to help out new members. Go Fonda, and go Dean - April 24, 2019 at 2:40PM

giraffmang: Nice one, dude. Can't think of anyone better to offer this. - April 23, 2019 at 12:18PM

Ms. Snyder: Thank you Dean - I just want to say that the back and forth of it all - I just was passing along a suggestion from Jesse James Doty - and it appears that the confusion of whether we have a welcome wagon or not - got out of hand. ME PERSONALLY - I would be happy if you were the mayor of Fan Story!!!! You did nothing but be super helpful to me when I first started!!!! - April 23, 2019 at 10:27PM

Dean Kuch:
Thank you Gareth...Fonda.
I remember how overwhelmed I felt when I first came to Fanstory.
Had it not been for kind, caring members like Brooke Baldwin (adewpearl) and Gungalo (Pam), as well as Michael Cahill, to guide me through and assist me in navigation I might have simply given up and quit.
I'm sure there are some who wish I had, heh-heh.
But I'm still hangin' on and I'd like to see our membership here grow substantially.
You all know what they say; "The more, the merrier."
~Dean - April 24, 2019 at 9:25AM

Ms. Snyder: I love the drummer and boy am I glad you didn?t quit!!! I would love to see it grow as well!! Cheers! - April 24, 2019 at 1:51PM

Hmmmm .... I don't know what my thoughts are at present. Although, it's been a very nice day today and I've hardly set foot outside in it. I've been holed up writing and reviewing and getting a sore neck. Not to mention an overworked mind. I'll be retiring tonight with rhymes and meters and all sorts of stuff going over and over in my head.

Yea, 'tis a trueism -

we Poets think in rhyme and meter. Always.
Simon says. And so does Peter.

Give it up!! Quit while ahead
Where's the cup and where's the bread ... ?

Can writing all day cause a person to be
like a drunk when they've done nothing alcoholically?
I think so for I feel a lot like I've
Imbibed a bottle or...hic...twenty-five

WryWriter: Pick up your feet
Get some sleep
I've no clue
What has you blue
I wish you the best
With your night's rest
Maybe in the morn
You'll feel reborn - April 21, 2019 at 1:14AM

Gypsymooncat: Hi Wry
I think that I
am heartened by
thy wishes for rest
so at your behest
I went off to bed
laid down my head
later in the night
the cats had a fight
which stole my sleep
I started to weep
then woke up this morning
unrested and yawning
