I recently retired, for the 4th time, from a Tribal school, working with middle schoolers in reading and writing, math (which is not my forte), etc. I spent a career in Fla, working as a consultant in Voc Rehab and in social work and non-profit agencies. I worked for a lot of years trying to help other people. I spent a lot of time as a musician, singer, soloist, director, actor and church musician. Don't do so much performing anymore. But once you're bitten by that bug, it doesn't just go away. Now I concentrate on writing, poetry and photography. I am writing a series of books on modern Native American adventure, and have one of poetry done. I have a memoir in the works titled "Growing up Southern: The Way it Was Before." I grew up in the old south and moved North to Michigan, the Upper Peninsula, on the Canada border. I moved back south, retired there, then moved back to Sault Ste. Marie and remain there, for now. I enjoy the contests on FanStory and FanArtReview and enjoy reading and reviewing so many cutting edge writing projects, art, and photography. I can't wait to form those warm artistic friendships and trying to keep up with all the new posts. PS: I love flash fiction, especially 100 words.

AJ McCall: I agree as well. I love the 100 word dashes. -

Comet Neowise

[fast forward to 3:25--look in lower left above horizon]

On July 3, Comet Neowise swung by the sun about 10 million miles closer than Mercury's orbit. Along the way, the 3 mile (5 kilometer) ice ball heated up enough to spray out two tails, one made of gas and the other dust, that stretch millions of miles into space.

The comet is expected to make its closest approach to Earth on July 23, when it's about 64 million miles away, according to calculations by NASA JPL. Astronomers expect it to be visible to the naked eye on a dark night through early August.

mrsmajor: I'm going to make a note of that, Jan, it would be a fascinating event. -

damommy: This is awesome!!!!! -

Hello! Apparently, I created a profile many years ago here and never engaged and I don?t know why, nor do I recall. I have been writing all my life, but never pursued publication until a few years back when I found an online writing group and met a lot of other like-minded individuals. I am 57 years old, married with two almost completely grown children. Since, finding the online writing world, I have managed to have a few works published in anthologies. A flash fiction, short story and several poems. I am working on a novel and several other smaller projects of prose, along with trying to find poetry and short story challenges to inspire and keep my creative juices flowing. I am forever grateful to the online friends and mentors that I have met in the past several years and look forward to many more. Also, the quality of writes I?m seeing on this site has particularly piqued my interest. I can tell that I will be inspired, impressed and awed by the postings here as I have been already.

I want to write a book about Atlantis, any ideas on what it would be like??

Bananafish308: I'm at a loss. -

Jannypan (Jan) : Look up 'Atlantis" a song by Donovan you should be able to find it on You tube. Also, Sandra Mitchell wrote a book for her grandson on it. It is in her portfolio. -

Hi Everyone,
I'm still dealing with this moving thing. Very stressful. Therefore, I'm not on Fanstory much right now. As soon as everything returns to normal will devote time to reading your great writing.

Regarding the Picture This club, I will post images throughout the moving process for members to share. Pardon me for sparse reviewing right now.
Hugs to all,
Marilyn
