Jackreese: After many stops and starts and many years later I have finally finished Secrets of Windwood. Thank you all for the support and help along the way.

Jackreese: When you are reviewing another's work is there anything particular you're looking for? What makes or breaks it for you?
nor84: Reviewing is not the same thing as reading for pleasure. When I review, I'm in editing mode. I'll notice the usual spelling, grammar, punctuation problems and try to help. I'll also notice story problems, such as point of view shifts or changes in tense, i.e., writing in past tense, then suddenly changing to present tense. My reason for reviewing is to point out areas that could be stronger, and to help the writer by giving an honest critique. -
rosehill (Wendy): With poetry, I first look to see if it adheres to the form it says it is. Then I check the rhythm, deciding if it flows smoothly or reads like a bumpy ride along an ancient cobblestone road. I happen to be a fan of pure rhyme, but I can tolerate slant/near rhymes if they seem the only option (hardly ever). Then I look at content for effective communication of plot - yes, even poems have a tale to tell - ideas and emotion. Lastly, I give all those extra points for tasty phrasing, good use of poetic devices, and how many paths I can wander within the piece. Unless something jumps out at me, I leave the SPAG to those who know it best. Hope that helps. - Wendy -

Jackreese: Does anyone have a specific time they prefer to write or is it just when the moment strikes?
michaelcahill: Late, late evening. Actually early, early morning of the next day. When everyone is asleep and I'm alone. -
evilynne: I do not write at any specific time, just when life allows it. But words often come to me around bedtime and find their way on paper the following day. -
JanetRussek: When I'm working around the house and an idea flashes to mind I drop everything and head for the computer -
sharonmealler: bed time. I can put everything that has happened during the day out of my mind and get lost in my fantasy world -

Jackreese: Hi everyone, its been a while since I've posted anything. I have had a lot of turmoil going on in my personal life and a broken computer that prevented me from doing much of anything. Now that things seemed to have calmed down, I hope to get some new stuff up soon.
