Karl_Schembri: I've been away from here for ages, my apologies, but meanwhile I've had my first book of poems published in the US called Remember the Future... you can find more about it here! http://writingknightspress.blogspot.com/2013/06/remember-future-by-karl-schembri.html
adewpearl: Karl, how good to see you. Congratulations on your book :-) -
Karl_Schembri: Many thanks Adewpearl! How are you? -

Karl_Schembri: Helicopters rove in the sky
their blades as vulnerable as our limbs
only their fall will be sensational.

Karl_Schembri: I'm tired of living... without you
donaldww: Well, i'm still here, nothing has changed. LOL
    -
fluffnstuff: I wish for you the kind of things that only morning brings...a rainbow in the dewdrop on the daisy of your dreams

and a wonderful person to hold on to.......hugs to you beautiful person. DiAnne -
fluffnstuff: As Natalie Wood said last in Splendor in the Grass,,,"though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass or glory in the flower, we shall grieve not, rather gain strength in what remains behind." -

Karl_Schembri: I've seen the future, baby:
it is murder - Leonard Cohen
shelley kaye: i hid the body..... now what?

    ;-)

    -
    Karl_Schembri: we'll grieve the past -

Karl_Schembri: Scars don't make you stronger
they just mark the calendar
of your eventful demise.

Karl_Schembri: Is it just me or is everything shit?
Joy Graham: Oh, I feel that way a lot so it's not just you. -
Sally Carter: Fairly shit, yes. Not that I have anything to complain about. Just Sooo...tired -
William Walz: Only if you work in a manure factory. -
Karl_Schembri: Thanks Joy and Sally. I always knew we had lots in common! -

Karl_Schembri: Writing without a muse is like having sex with a dead body
    Donya Quijote: Ew!!! -

Karl_Schembri: Death intervenes to simplify everything - Philip Roth, The Human Stain
    rama devi: *yep*! -

Karl_Schembri: Thank you to all friends who shared words of support and encouragement over the last days - they really made all the difference even if I couldn't answer all of you - the greatest antidote to the deafening rain of bombs that pounded Gaza for 8 days. Really, thank you.
Sally Carter: We are all hoping the ceasefire holds. -
green5587: Karl, let's all pray all the leaders show common sense and realizes what's really important here. -
James Sarzotti: Karl, my heart and mind has been with you, the other journalists, people of Gaza City--everyone suffering from this violence. I was relieved to see your postings. Look forward to reading you soon. Cheers, brother. James -

Karl_Schembri: Gaza City celebrating - sigh of relief for the entire population trapped in here so cruelly for more than 5 years. Israel now has to honour the rest of the points of the ceasefire agreement; namely the opening of crossings and freedom of movement and materials - it is only with the total lifting of the blockade and an end to the occupation that a long-term solution can ever be reached
    DIS-illusioned: Thank you, Karl--thank you1 Huh!
The situation is so much more complicated than 'God-fearing Israel good, war-mongering Palestinians bad'--as many Westerners tend to think.
There is fault and blame to be had on both sides, and in my opinion, atrocious how little help the Palestinians have received from the international community in comparison to Israel--a shame! :-/
May the peace talks/resolutions proceed in the direction you've alluded to. Innocent lives--children, women, the infirmed--are being devastated here.
    :-/ -
Sally Carter: Ditto to what DIS said. I take so much for granted... -
adewpearl: Karl, your safety and the safety of everyone in Gaza is definitely cause for celebration. This makes for a happy Thanksgiving indeed. -
jjstar: Much relief, Karl....stay safe... -

Karl_Schembri: Gaza wakes up after the most intense pounding from land, sea and air on the night the expected ceasefire was meant to be announced but "delayed" reportedly by Israel. Al Deira Hotel where many journalists are staying had its windows blasted by nearby attack
green5587: So sorry, Karl. I can't imagine what that's like. Israel is delaying because of destructive terms wanted by Hamas. -
adewpearl: Stay away from the windows!! I have been praying for you and for all those in harm's way, no matter what side of the confrontation they are on. -
Sally Carter: Your posts are so much more powerful than the news bulletins. So hard to comprehend what people in your world are experiencing, while we just watch from afar. Please let it all end soon. -
Joy Graham: Stay safe, Karl! Got you in my prayers!!! -
MidnightWriter4U: May God protect you all who are trying to report this tragic situation. -

Karl_Schembri:
Karl_Schembri: While Gaza is pounded with US-funded missiles, Palestinians teach life to all the world -
    DIS-illusioned: Yo...that was DEEP! -
adewpearl: I have been thinking about you non-stop the past few days. I am so glad you are well and posting! -
Sally Carter: Wow, what a woman. What a performance. I feel humbled. -
ameen786: Karl my friend, I thank you for sharing this gravitating and bone-chilling video of Rafeef Ziadah reciting her own brilliant work. I pray and hope your are keeping sage, take care. -

Karl_Schembri: The drones are flying, and so are the birds
-Gaza Under Attack
    DIS-illusioned: Yeesh! Please, be safe! :-/ -
jjstar: Thought about you when I read the headlines...take care..why are you still there. The chicken in me says, "RUN, FORREST, RUN! -
Karl_Schembri: It's my job to be here -

Karl_Schembri: My status says I'm exploding. That sounds very bad from here in Gaza
    DIS-illusioned: LOL
Good thing no one's playing 'Rocket Man'.
    :) -
    Karl_Schembri: lol -
Spike the second: Karl my friend,
Stay safe I am horrified what is happening in Gaza. How can attacks like this avoid the innocent?

    Blessings to you
    -
    Karl_Schembri: It's pretty bad... -

Karl_Schembri: Israeli drones covering the night sky in Gaza, buzzing over our heads like radio controlled killer bees. None of the holy domes offer protection.
    adewpearl: please stay safe -

Karl_Schembri: Part of the process of growing up involves the surprise realisation that you don't need to become a doctor to touch pussy :D
William Walz: Another part of growing up is the wisdom of knowing if it is appropriate to make marginally obscene comments on a public forum, a forum that is sometimes frequented by very young and very impressionable young people. Unbelievable. -
Skyangel02: I hope you are talking about vets and cats. ;-) -
Karl_Schembri: Exactly... no idea what Mr Walz was thinking. Incredible. -
fluffnstuff: Hold on everybody.....i need to go find my dictionary. lol I had to ask what a gaza strip was. Nevermind, just been a bit sheltered here. Oh my., lions and tigers and bears. -
Karl_Schembri: Thanks fluff... you really understand me :D Mr Walz needs some immersion in the Gaza Strip cauldron lol -
snoellelong: off topic-- karl, you would really enjoy the 'see me' one. go look at it. read it. seriously. -

Karl_Schembri: Parliament stands merely as a tribute to a failed plot
DIS-illusioned: Then an auspicious failed plot it was. -

Karl_Schembri: "If you have to become anything, become an alcoholic" - Charles Bukowski
:D
Sally Carter: Is there no Plan B?
    :~) -
William Walz: If I did I'd be a sadder Budweiser man. -
    Sally Carter: haHaHAHA.... Brilliant. -
William Walz: You expect anything less? -
Sally Carter: Nah. When I try jokes there's just a chorus of booze. -
William Walz: Reminds me of the guy who liked to pour his beer out on the bar and slurp it up with his tongue. He was an alcoholick. -
    TammyGail: Love Bukowski :)

    -
    Karl_Schembri: what a legend -
William Walz: Alcoholick. Get it? -
Karl_Schembri: yes but it's not funny.
    lol -
    William Walz: Dang. -
Lady & Louis: Yuck, what a horrible idea. And if a joke - not funny. Was he ever on the receiving end of someone else's alcoholism? -
Laurie Keim: He had the passion in the beginning. But he wrote too much too quickly and much in the end was complete rubbish. -
James Sarzotti: Bukowski was at a party and when Ginsberg walked he said, "There's Allen Ginsberg who hasn't written a good poem since Howl." I wonder, does this performance on Buckely's Firing Line affirm or deny that appraisal.
    -
James Sarzotti: Rather: Bukowski was at a party and when Ginsberg walked in he said, "There's Allen Ginsberg who hasn't written a good poem since Howl." I wonder, does this performance on Buckley's Firing Line affirm or deny that appraisal? I vote nay. -

Karl_Schembri: Writing is just a front for my insanity :D
rosehill (Wendy): What is the back? -
    Karl_Schembri: insanity! -
Meta~Mark: Karl- I write my best when either I am angry or feeling blue pal.. -
    Karl_Schembri: I'm not complaining! Just confessing :D -
Laurie Keim: All poets are weirdos; just get use to it. I would rather hide behind insanity than pretension. -
Karl_Schembri: I'm happily used to it, Laurie. Lol -

Karl_Schembri: Halloween poems should be banned, transgressors shot
adewpearl: Karl, I ADORE Halloween poems. They're the most fun I have writing all year long. Don't be a party pooper. LOL :-) -
    Karl_Schembri: I'm a contrarian, sorry :D
Is everything ok your end? I was worried on Tuesday as nobody else was around for class. -
Laurie Keim: I agree Karl; it is like being in fourth form again. Cheers -
shelley kaye: i agree with karl too!

    -

Karl_Schembri: Thinking of hurricane Sandy's victims
DIS-illusioned: ... And what are your thoughts about them? :-p -
Karl_Schembri: read my writings! We're not meant to post poetry here :P -

Karl_Schembri: Put a new banner on my blog... and new writings :)
Let me know if you like it. http://hopscotchrain.wordpress.com/
Meta~Mark: awesome Karl, keep up the great work! Feel free to post my poem inspired by you as well buddy. -

Karl_Schembri: Gaza under attack. Again
    Joy Graham: Be safe! -
adewpearl: Please stay safe, Karl -
DIS-illusioned: O when will humans ever learn?! *God in tears* :-( -

Karl_Schembri: "one can never be sure
whether it's good poetry or
bad acid" - Charles Bukowski
Meta~Mark: LOLOL, funny as hell.. -

Karl_Schembri: Drones flying overhead.
Military tourism.
With no passengers.
Meta~Mark: JUST SEND A SCUD MISSILE AT THEM DUDE , LOL -

Karl_Schembri: Late for work.
Writing and reading unrelated things.
You know what.
Lady & Louis: I know that feeling well! :D -

Karl_Schembri: Writing is a lonely venture, made lonelier when forced to be away from my muse, which makes writing even more essential

Karl_Schembri: Good morning writers
and readers alike
we live off each other
like the sun and skin cancer :D
William Walz: No wonder I got a review from some clown named Mel Anoma. -
    Karl_Schembri: lol -
Shirlena: Write another poem please so I can pay you what I owe you. Because as far as I'm concerned all of your works deserves such but I simply had to build up before I could spare it (if you know what I mean. I also subscribed to your website under proseforlene@gmail.com. -
MAMONIA: Tried saving the chat, didn't work. Sorry.
    -
Karl_Schembri: You don't owe me anything, don't worry - I don't think the one I just posted qualifies for a six anyway - it's all good... just keep it for when it's really explosive, a bit like virginity :p -
Karl_Schembri: Sorry that was for Shirlena - thanks anyway Marie! -
Karl_Schembri: What are you reconciled with, exactly? Dickishness? lol -
TammyGail: That was rude to shit on another's wall Michael - enjoy some Plath both of you -

    -
Meta~Mark: Karl- that is the type of comment about Reconciled that will get you banned from this site and you are putting this on a public site. Not good when every reader can read the reviews and remarks you give, my suggestion is until you can master poetry I would stop throwing stones you cannot catch yourself. And wife, isn't it rude what he said to reconciled too, this isnt facebook this is a writing site. -
Karl_Schembri: Why would it get me banned? Haven't you seen his comment? -
    TammyGail: you wouldn't that's nonsense -
    Meta~Mark: just trying to help...R -

Karl_Schembri: Psst... anyone out there?
shelley kaye: depends on where "there" is....

    -
Karl_Schembri: behind the screen, between my desk and the window... -
Joy Graham: Yes, you caught me hiding. -
squid152: "There" is in the imagination of your mind... -

Karl_Schembri: Tammy send more of your favourite poetry videos!
Meta~Mark: Please is the appropriate word Karl, especially after the unjust critique rendered upon her ink. -
    Amsterdam: And Thank you ...
    Any Language would do...
    We All know a FEW
    am -

Karl_Schembri: Writing, sleeping, writing... do you ever find yourself in a dilemma of when to read whenever you're on a writing high?
    DIS-illusioned: Yeah, but I just re-read what I'm writing. :) -
TammyGail: Karl - I thought you would adore one of my favorite poetess :) enjoy

    -
Karl_Schembri: And you TammyGail thought very well - my god - you know me already! This is wonderful - I love it. So subversive, so angry, with the knowing anger of a professional boxer, who knows where to hit, with what force, which red lines to cross, which rules to break slightly, in form and content... Tammy you realise I'll be late for work cos of you?? :D what a great way to start! thanks -
    Karl_Schembri: Dear DIS-illusioned,
I just hope it's not your own writing that keeps you in the state described in your name! :D lol
    xxx.
    k. -
Karl_Schembri: Tammy - couldn't resist putting it on my blog:
    http://hopscotchrain.wordpress.com/2012/10/14/the-applicant-sylvia-plath/ -
    TammyGail: Enjoy Karl -

    -

Karl_Schembri: I think I'm getting the hang of this website!

Karl_Schembri: Writing many things at once makes me write more

A journalist and writer from Malta based in the Gaza Strip.

I write stories, novels, poetry and a bit of everything.

I don't create as much as I report, rearrange, reuse and recycle.

I can write endlessly for my reader, and then stop for years.

I write until I exhaust all the words that have to be said, knowing that everything has been said already. We can only retell it, with our own grammatical quirkiness that gives us some credit.

I write until I hate writing. Until I fall in love with my muse again. Until it becomes inevitable again.

You can read some of my works here: http://hopscotchrain.wordpress.com/
