scottmckernan: Hello again Bob,
I just thought it might be helpful to you, if you were to consider my offer of hiring you as a mentor, if I let you know why I think you're the person for the job...
Based on the detailed review you gave me, I feel confident that you know what it takes to do great writing. You used the word "Genius" amongst others, and said that's what you look for. That shows me you're of the caliber of people I want to bring into this project. I believe that with some guidance, I can create work like that.
You obviously have good people skills and emotional intelligence - two things essential in what I want in a mentor.
The messages I want to get out there to an audience I feel could be highly significant to many people - life-changing. But for me, I feel I need help to polish my knowledge and skills with the technical side of writing to make this work.
I am so impressed by your review!
I loved that you said, "May I be brutal?"
I braced myself, but you disappointed me (ha ha). Where was the brutality? I get it. I found the review so encouraging. By the way... at the end you mentioned spelling. This book I hope to publish first in Australia, so I have used Australian spelling, hence the variations to US spelling.
The energy I felt from you via your review was warm and supportive and encouraging, not brutal at all. That's why I want you as my mentor. You can say what needs to be said precisely while not discouraging people.
I really feel I can learn so much from you. You communicate well.
Honestly, I know we haven't met and this offer may be unusual, but I hope you consider it carefully.
I look forward to hearing your response,
